Mike Meyers

Mike began playing piano in 5th grade, turning to drums and percussion by the 6th grade.  His love of all things musical led to a Music Performance degree from the University of Kansas.  Playing professionally since 1989, Mike has played with local bands in Lawrence, KS, and Kansas City, including an international tour with Ernest James Zydeco to the Netherlands in 2014.  Some of the groups Mike has played with are The Remains, Broken Inglish, Third Stone, Blue River, Steel Horse, Kristie Stremel, Sellout, Pendergast, The Snakebite Orphans, The Gaslights, Ernest James Zydeco, Erik Voeks, Salamander, The Roger Pitts Trio, Ultra Sharp, and Switch.  His recorded works include Pendergast’s “The Truth About Saturday Night” and “Between The Bottle And The Pulpit”, Kristie Stremel’s “Here Comes The Light”, and Ernest James Zydeco’s “Jubilee” and “Roots Rocket Radio”.

Some of Mike’s influences are Terry Bozzio, Stewart Copeland, Bill Stewart, Omar Hakim, Jeff Porcaro, Steve Smith, Stanton Moore, David Garibaldi, Vinnie Colaiuta, Todd Sucherman, Phil Collins, Jojo Mayer, Sonny Emory, Benny Greb, and Go-Go Ray.

Mike builds and plays his own drums, Meinl Cymbals, Aquarian Drumheads, Vic Firth Drumsticks, and Drum Workshop hardware.
