David Freeland

A native of Indianapolis, David comes to Funk Syndicate through a journey that includes performing Jazz, Blues, Rock, Funk, and Country.

A graduate of Indiana State University , David has been performing since he was sixteen and had formed his own Jazz Quartet by the age of 20 where he played some of the top venues in the Indianapolis area.  In addition to his own group, David also found time to play with other top bands in Indiana and Oklahoma , where he has performed for festival crowds as large as 25,000.

Some of the renowned artists David has had the privilege of performing with include legendary Be Bop Trombonist, J.J. Johnson as well as, Jiggs Wigham, Jimmy Coe and The Nace Brothers.  One of David’s groups opened for The Dave Matthews Band and Kansas.  He has also opened for Stevie Wonder, Ringo Starr & His All Star Band and The Little River Band.

Most recently David performed and received recognition at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio

David plays Yamaha Saxophones and Akai Electronic Wind Instrument.
