Kevin Hupe

Hailing from the small town of Wamego, KS, Kevin moved to the KC area in the 2000s and immediately fell in with a group of musicians that called themselves the Funk Syndicate. He has since continued to perform in a wide variety of venues/styles including jazz, blues, musical theatre, orchestra, and of course funk. Now he is excited to rejoin Funk Syndicate after taking several years away to spend more time with his young, growing family.

Kevin’s first love is jazz and his main influences include Miles Davis, Clifford Brown, and Clark Terry. Throughout his career, Kevin has had the opportunity to perform with many musicians including Clark Terry, Steve Turre, and John Fedchock. Kevin holds a B.M.E. from Kansas State University and a M.M.J. from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Along with performing music, he currently teaches high school band in the KC area.
