Our 8-piece band boasts world class vocals, smokin’ hot horns and a rhythm section that just cooks. We bring a full production including expert light and sound run by dedicated professionals.
Funk Syndicate is frequently seen in some of KC’s top casinos, clubs or opening up for national artists. We have been the supporting act for Stevie Wonder, Ringo Starr, Paul Simon, Chuck Negron (3 Dog Night), Keith Sweat, and The Little River Band among others. Funk Syndicate has appeared at Union Station, The Kauffman Center, Bartle Hall, Kemper Arena, Kansas City Convention Center, Arrowhead Stadium and The Elms and more!
Individually, members of the band have opened for The Dave Matthews Band, Kansas, Loverboy, Poco, Head East, Survivor, Martina McBride, Bo Diddley, The Coasters, The Marvelletes, Buddy Guy, Tito Puente Jr., and The O’Jays. Two of our members have performed and been recognized at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

David was great to work with as he coordinated the details for the band. He responded so quickly and answered all our questions (including the wedding novice “dumb” questions). We were able to select our preferred playlist and, true to their word, they even learned a song that was not on their playlist.
Given that the wedding was in January of 2021 we were dealt the additional challenge of navigating the COVID Pandemic. Everything worked out so smoothly! They arrived on time for setup and were ready to Emcee the pre-dancing events – our schedule was kept nearly to the minute. We had a formal wedding and they dressed accordingly. Angee and I heard the band at a function we attended early in 2011, and we knew right away that they were the perfect group for our wedding reception. We got married on 11-11-11 (Friday), but held the reception the next night (Saturday) in our KC Copters Helicopter hangar at JOCO Executive Airport. With a few hundred in attendance, we got the obligatory first dances out of the way, and then it was time for the band! We had them lead with the song “I’ve Got A Feeling”, and I have to tell you… I was on the dance floor for quite awhile before it dawned on me that it wasn’t a DJ playing the Black Eyed Peas… it was FUNK SYNDICATE! They sounded THAT GOOD! Not only are they incredibly talented, but they conducted themselves with unparalleled professionalism and courtesy. Through the entire booking and planning process they were totally fun to work with…they just flat out get it. And… they made the rest of the night spectacular as well. In closing, we’ve all been to the receptions where everyone cringes when the music begins. When planning our wedding my husband and I knew we wanted a band, but not just any band, we wanted a funk and dance band. We wanted Earth Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder, the Commadores, and music of this nature. We went and witnessed five different bands in the KC area that covered this type of music.
